PSATs, SATs & Test Dates

2018-2019 School Year Test Dates

WHAT IS THE PSAT?
The PSAT is a test taken at ACCHS by all freshmen, sophomore and junior students which has three primary functions:

  • A good practice for the SATs.

  • A qualifying test for the National Merit Scholarship Competition for juniors only (qualification is determined National Merit Committee)

  • Used by colleges and universities as a generic mailing list for basic information and contact

  1. DO I HAVE TO REGISTER MY CHILD TO TAKE THE PSAT?
As the parent of an Allentown Central Catholic High School student, you must send your son/daughter into school on the PSAT testing date. You do not have to register your son/daughter. There is no cost for this test. The school has paid for all expenses for this service. Students will be dismissed for home at 2:50pm at regular dismissal time.

  2. DOES MY CHILD HAVE TO TAKE THE PSAT?
At Allentown Central Catholic High School, we require all freshmen, sophomores and juniors to take the PSAT.

  3. WHAT HAPPENS IF MY CHILD IS ABSENT THE DAY OF THE TEST?
Since the PSATs can only be administered at ACCHS on Wednesday, October 10, 2018, we unfortunately cannot accommodate anyone who misses the test for any reason. However, if your home school district offers the test on another date, you may inquire if they would be able to accommodate your student, but there is no guarantee. Also, if a student is absent for an illness or emergency on the test date, please contact Mr. Garza in the Guidance Office. Their reason for absence may allow them to still be included in National Merit Scholarship Competitions.

  4. DO SENIORS COME TO SCHOOL ON THE DAY OF PSAT TESTING?
No. Seniors have the day off from school but are encouraged to take advantage of the day and use it as a college visit day or work on
    college applications, resumes and essays.

  5. PSAT SCORES
Access your son/daughter’s PSAT scores online; click on the button below to create a Collegeboard account for your student. This will be your student's Collegeboard account for their four years at ACCHS. Please choose emails and passwords that are easy to remember. If your student already has a Collegeboard account, you can link your student’s new scores to that pre-existing account. Also, don’t forget to link your account to Khan Academy for free SAT Prep geared to your needs.
