COLLEGE COUNSELING SUMMER WORKSHOPS

Here is some information that you need to know about the college application process.

  1. The Common Application will officially be available for Seniors to submit applications to colleges on August 1. Seniors can create a Common Application account at any time, but will not be able to submit them to colleges until August 1. The website is www.commonapp.org.

  2. When applying or providing information to colleges, remember to use Mr. Garza's information as your counselor, not Ms. Gehris,
    Mrs. Zellner-Reilly or Mrs. Lesisko.

  3. Please let Mr. Garza know which teachers have been sent recommendations requests. Mr. Garza will update that information in Naviance.  

  4. Teachers will submit their recommendations into Naviance. They will not be able to submit them until after a Senior applies.

  5. Mr. Garza is available throughout the summer. His office hours are Monday-Thursday, 8:00am-2:00pm. The school will be closed on Fridays during the summer. Stop in or set up an appointment by emailing is mgarza@acchs.info.

  6. Mr. Garza will not be in the office on he following dates: June 18-30 and July 25-28.  

  7. Senior's official transcripts, updated GPA and class rank will be available after the July 4 holiday.

  8. Please join Mr. Garza at his Summer Workshops. Information is below:

 

  • Thursday, July 11: College Essay Writing Workshop, 6:00pm in Room 205.
    Tips and do’s and don’ts of essay writing. Examples of essays with input from college admissions counselors.

  • Thursday, July 18: NCAA Eligibility Workshop, 6:00pm in Room 205.
    How to understand the NCAA Eligibility Center and the requirements needed to be recruited to play Division 1 or 2 athletics.

  • Thursday, August 1: The Common Application Workshop, 6:00pm in Room 205.
    Understanding the Common Application website and how to complete the admissions process at ACCHS.

  • Thursday, August 8: The Common Application Workshop, 6:00pm in Room 205.
    Understanding the Common Application website and how to complete the admissions process at ACCHS.

  • Thursday, August 15: NCAA Eligibility Workshop, 6:00pm in Room 205.
